The country of Tunisia is located in the north of Africa and it is the smallest country in the region. The climate in the country is usually temperate in the north and semiarid to the south. Its climate has a lot to do with the Mediterranean Sea on the north side and the Sahara Desert. Some regions in the country are also affected by their altitude. Jebel ech Chambi for example is the highest point in the country at 1,544 meters (5,066 feet) above sea level. Other points like Shatt al Gharsah are at a much lower altitude at only 17 meters (56 feet) so you can expect Tunisia weather to be different in different areas depending not only on the altitude but also on location.
